Crown Tours and Safaris Namibia with its own Camp Site is situated in Usakos and started business in 2005.  Headed by Hannelie who is a registered Tour and Safari Operator  at NTB (Namibia Tourism Board) Ref. TSO00096 and qualified Tour Guide at NATH (Namibia Academy for Tourism and Hospitality).     


On the edge of the well-known Namib Desert, more or less halfway between Windhoek and Swakopmund, lies the small town of Usakos.  Within range of a one day drive: Spitzkoppe,  Erongo Mountain, Swakopmund, Cape Cross and Ameib Range - Phillip Cave, Bushman Paradise and Bulls Party.  Worth a night or ten's stay over.           


We offer affordable camping as well as more luxurious lodging tours which can take you all over Namibia, into Botswana and even to the Victoria Falls on the Zambian side depending on your budget.  


We make use of a Mercedes-Benz Tourist Sprinter for bigger groups of up to 16 people and a Chevrolet for smaller groups of up to 6 people.

KING TOUR
NORTH WESTERN ITINERARY

The majestic King Tour will meander for 14 days through the North Western territories of Namibia leading to the Kaokoveld and the Angolan border.

We will explore the cultures, traditions and customs of various Namibian tribes and also seek to rediscover the paths of man that tamed Namibia in the days that time has almost forgotten. By day we will travel on roads that can only be tamed by 4x4 vehicles while we will enjoy the African sky and nature’s offerings at night. We will experience the sounds and sights of Africa and believe in the oneness of nature again…

The Queen Tour will take you on a journey to a world where the Boesman has found favour with the gods over centuries of time and where their way of life is remembered by those that respect the Boesman’s simplicity and absolute dependence on the fruits and offerings of nature. Boesmanland is a land where the sands of time have not fully withstood the cultural eroding elements of modernization and where many cultural treasures of the Boesman have been preserved in rock paintings,artifacts and in the stories being shared by grandparents with their grandchildren. The way of life of the Boesman has changed significantly over time; however, the ways of the Boesman have not been forgotten. Some Boesman still live according to the ways, customs and traditions of their grandparents. Come and experience the simplicity of life of the Boesman on our tour!

Day 1
Windhoek – Okahandja – Otjiwarongo – Otavi – Kombat - Meteorite – Grootfontein
Prepare yourself for a fantastic seven-day adventure as we travel north from Windhoek to Otjiwarongo on our way to Grootfontein. From here we will enter a world where time seems to be forgotten and where the elements are slowly eroding the landscape as well as the culture and traditions of the Boesman.
 
Day 2
Grootfontein – Aasvoëlness – Khebi & Naye Naye Pans - Tsumkwe
We will explore the fascinating cultural activities of the Vasekela / Barakwen San Communities and learn how they manage to survive amidst western influences and changing times. We will then proceed to the Khebi & Naye Naye Pans for bird watching and exciting game viewing.
 
Day 3
Tsumkwe – Nhoma Omuramba – Tsoana Fountain - Sekereti Camp
Experience game viewing like never before as we embark on an exciting 4X4 safari with an experienced local tour operator to the Khandum Game Reserve.
 
Day 4
Sekereti Camp - Tsumkwe
All the excitement getting too much? Today we take it easy and spend the day game viewing and engage the ever-popular bird watching. This will truly be a memorable experience for all nature lovers.
 
Day 5
Tsumkwe – Hollow Tree – Naye Naye Conservancy – Tsumkwe
We visit the Hollow Boaba (Adasonia Digitata) trees after which we will spend the rest of the day with a guide from the Naye Naye Conservancy for a traditional hunting experience. You are then invited to experience some traditional dances with us during the evening entertainment!
 
Day 6
Tsumkwe – Grootfontein – Waterberg Plateau.
We will depart early morning for Grootfontein where we’ll make a quick stop for light refreshments and a well-deserved leg stretch. From here we will travel to the Waterberg Plateau where we will arrive just in time for a late lunch. You can then roam amidst the lush vegetation and wander to an old German colonial war cemetery and old buildings. Later in the afternoon all those that are young at heart will get the opportunity to hike through the rocky kloofs of the Waterberg Plateau. Prepare yourself for some breathtaking views from the ‘summit’!
 
Day 7
Waterberg Plateau – Okahandja - Windhoek             
After breakfast we will journey back to Okahandja where we will explore this historical farming community before traveling back to Windhoek. Enjoy dinner with old and new made friends to celebrate the end of a truly once in a lifetime experience!

PRINCE TOUR

The Prince Tour will journey to some of the most valuable treasures of the Namibian ‘kingdom’ where you will experience the gentle African sky as it touches the harshness of the African savanna to provide a perfect habitat for great and small alike.
 
We will explore the history of various small villages and towns as we make our way to the world-renowned Etosha National Park, and stand in awe of the natural wonders that is the Prettified Forrest, the Burnt Mountain, the Moon Landscape, the seal colony at Cape Cross, the Lichen Fields, the mystical sand dunes of the Namib Desert, the Welwitchia Mirabilis and the Organ Pipes, amongst many other Namibian treasures that we will experience.  

Day 1
Windhoek – Okahandja – Otjiwarongo – Otavi – Tsumeb – Lake Otjikoto - Namutoni

The Namibian sun, culture and hospitality will bid you welcome between 07:30 and 08:00 at the rendezvous point after which our journey to the various treasures of “Our Beloved Country” will commence. We will travel from Windhoek via Otjiwarongo to the small railway town of yesteryear, Otavi. In Otavi we will enjoy some light refreshments to strengthen the ‘inner person’. Thereafter we will enjoy lunch before embarking on the final leg of our day’s journey. We will travel to the fascinating Lake Otjikoto for some sightseeing. It is believed that this lake forms part of an underground water source whose magnitude must still be determined. This is also a popular diving spot for scuba divers as they seek to establish some historical treasures, which is believed to lay hidden in the depths of the lake.
 
We will progress further north to reach our final destination, Etosha, during the late afternoon. You’ll spend the evening under the African stars at the Namutoni rest camp where you’ll be able to enjoy dinner and wildlife viewing at one of many water holes.
 
Day 2
Namutoni – Pans - Okaukuejo

After a hearty breakfast we will leave for Okaukuejo. On this journey you can encounter the Big Five and get a glimpse of Lions feeding, Elephants nurturing their young at a near-by water hole, White Rhinoceros grazing, Zebras running free under the African sun and much, much more. Lunch will be served at the Okaukuejo rest camp after which you will have some time on hands to have a swim in real African style, observe wildlife at the waterhole near the camp or join us as we venture on yet another exciting game drive. Spend the evening with friends around the campfire under the dazzling African sky and listen to stories of adventure.
 
Day 3
Okaukuejo – Kamanjab – Khorixas – Prettified Forest – Aba Huab

After breakfast we are on our way to Kamanjab where we will spend a few hours at an Ova-Himba camp where we will experience their culture and heritage. From here we journey to Khorixas, as we make our way towards the Prettified Forrest, only stopping halfway to enjoy lunch in true Namibian style and spirit. Once we reach the Prettified Forest you’ll be given the opportunity to explore the environment on your own. From here we will travel to Aba Huab where we will set up camp for the night.
 
Day 4
Aba Huab – Twyfelfontein – Burnt Mountain - Organ Pipe – Uis – Henties Bay – Swakopmund

After breakfast we will drive to Twyfelfontein where we’ll enjoy an early morning hike while admiring the famous rock sketches from an almost forgotten age. From here our journey takes us to the Burnt Mountain and the Organ Pipes – truly natural wonders! En route to the small town of Uis we’ll stop for a refreshing lunch. Our next stop is the coastal town of Henties Bay where we’ll stop for refreshments before completing our journey and spending the evening in the historic colonial German town of Swakopmund. After freshening up we’ll do a tour of this popular international holiday resort. In the evening we will have a traditional Afrikaans barbeque after which you will be more than welcome to enjoy the vibrant nightlife that Swakopmund has to offer.
 
Day 5
Swakopmund – Lichen Field – Cape Cross – Omdel Dam - Swakopmund
Today we journey to Cape Cross stopping of at the Lichen Field to explore these pioneers of the plant world. At Cape Cross you’ll see the largest seal colony in Southern Africa and - arguably in the world - it is truly an amazing and breathtaking site to see. We will enjoy lunch at the Omdel Dam on our way back to Swakopmund. You can spend the afternoon exploring the town and enjoy some of the many tourist activities this beautiful town has to offer. Dinner will be for your own account but with this being Swakopmund you’ll be spoiled with a variety of local seafood and Ale Carte restaurants and unique offerings of local hotels. Enjoy true German hospitality!
 
 
Day 6
Swakopmund – Dunes – Moon Landscape - Regimental Badges - Usakos

After breakfast we will visit the Kristal Gallery and then proceed to experiencing the mystical Namib dunes – a definite must-see! On this journey you’ll see the oldest Welwitchia Mirabilis in Namibia and we’ll also visit the Moon Landscape – one of Namibia’s most fascinating geological features. Our final destination for the day is Usakos. En route to this small but lovely little town, we’ll stop at various historical World War I sites.
 
Day 7
Usakos – Ameib – Usakos - Windhoek

Today you can either have a day of rest or join us for one last time as we travel to Ameib where we’ll visit the Bull’s Party and the Phillip’s Cave, well known tourist attractions in this area. We’ll enjoy lunch at our camp site in Usakos and then journey back to Windhoek. Our time of arrival in Windhoek will be approximately 17:00.

Day 1
Windhoek – Rehoboth – Mariental - Garas

You will be welcomed between 07:45 and 08:30 at the agreed upon rendezvous point. Our journey will take us through a path of discovery through the southern parts of Namibia. Our first stop will be Rehoboth, the capital of the Baster nation, where we will visit the museum of the Baster community. We will then proceed to the farming town of Mariental where we will enjoy lunch. We will spend the evening under African skies at Garas, a camping site just north of Keetmanshoop. Here you can enjoy an unforgettable African sunset and spend your first night under a lake of enchanting stars.
 
If the gods allow, we will visit the Garas Quiver Tree Forest and the Giant’s Playgrounds.
 
Day 2
Garas – Keetmanshoop – Fish River Canyon - Seeheim

After breakfast we will explore Keetmanshoop. Our journey takes us to the Naute Dam just south of Keetmanshoop where lunch will be served. Our next exciting stop will be the Fish River Canyon – the second largest canyon in the world! A spectacular and magnificent site to see! We’ll spend the night at Seeheim, a place that time has forgotten….
 
Day 3
Seeheim – Aus – Garub - Lüderitz

Today we travel to the coastal fishing haven of Luderitz, stopping over at the historic town of Aus where you’ll find World War I graves and a prisoner of war camp of yesteryear. An early lunch will be served here. We will stop for a moment at Garub where you will be able to experience the wild horses of the Namib and listen to the tales of how these horses first came to live in this vast and arid desert. You will also stand amazed to learn how they have adapted to living in this unforgiving environment. Our journey will end in Luderitz where we’ll spend the night. Join us for a tour of the Luderitz harbour after which you’ll have the rest of the evening to explore the small pubs and restaurants of the town. You can strole down the sidewalks while the fog folds its mystical arms around you. As dinner is on your own account, you can enjoy an array of the local cuisine to your taste.
 
Day 4
Lüderitz – Diaz Point – Kolmanskop - Aus – Helmeringhausen

After a hearty breakfast we travel to Dias Point where you will be treated to a tale of Portuguese discovery. From here we visit Kolmanskop, Namibia’s own little diamond mining ghost town where you can visit the diamond shop and even mine for a diamond in the rough! You will also be able to acquire an authentic Namibian diamond for the loved one /-s at a diamond merchant at Kolmanskop!
 
We then travel to Aus where lunch will be served in true Namibian style. Our final destination for the day will be Helmeringshausen where we’ll set up camp for the night.
 
Day 5
Helmeringhausen – Duwiseb Castle - Weltevrede

For those running low on energy, don’t fear, today will be a fairly relaxed day. After breakfast we travel to Duwiseb castle, an architectural and historical wonder, especially taking the harsh environment where it is located into consideration. Here you will have the opportunity to listen to stories of yesteryear. Lunch will be served on our way to Weltevrede where we’ll set up camp under wild African skies.
 
Day 6
Weltevrede – Sesreim Gate - Dune 45 – Deadvlei – Sossusvlei – Sesriem Canyon - Weltevrede

Today we have an early start. We travel to Dune 45 where we’ll enjoy breakfast in the great outdoors. We’ll spend the day exploring the dunes around the amazing Sossusvlei area – an oasis in the desert! We return to our campsite at Weltevrede later the same day.
 
Day 7
Weltevrede – Solitair – Gaub Pass – Kuiseb Pass – Walvis Bay - Swakopmund

After breakfast we journey to beautiful Swakopmund traveling along the Gaub Pass. Lunch will be served at the bottom of the Kuiseb Pass. Swakopmund is our final destination where, after freshening up, you are more than welcome to join us for a tour through this very popular historical German colonial holiday resort. Some international tourists have remarked that “this is so surreal; Swakopmund is a small Europe in Africa”.
 
Dinner will be on your own account but not to fear, this is a town where you’ll be spoiled with the best that local cuisine has to offer. Enjoy the local German hospitality!
 
Day 8
Swakopmund – Dunes – Moon Landscape - Regimental Badges - Usakos

After breakfast you’ll be able to explore the jewels of the town on your own and meet up with your guide at a time and venue as mutually agreed upon. We will then travel to the majestic Namib dunes where we’ll enjoy lunch. From here we will visit the fascinating “Moon Landscape” – a geological wonder - as we journey towards Usakos, where we will spend the night.
 
Day 9
Usakos – Ameib – Usakos - Windhoek

After breakfast, join us for a final trip as we journey to nearby Ameib where we’ll visit the Bull’s Party and Phillip’s Cave. Lunch will be served at our camping site in Usakos. We’ll leave for Windhoek soon after lunch and our estimated time of arrival in Windhoek would be 17:00.

The Namibian nation mines various substances, base metals, semi-precious stones and precious stones such as uranium, gold, zinc, copper, nickel, lead, diamonds, salt, tin, iron, marble, tourmaline, tantalite, etc. Our country also has a myriad of historical and cultural treasures that will amaze you. Come and share in the treasures of our “Beloved Country”!
 
Day 1
Windhoek – Bosua Pass – Karibib - Usakos
 
You will be welcomed at the airport from where we will travel in a westerly direction, passing through the mining town of Karibib on our way to the historical farming town of Usakos.
 
Usakos, a Damara word meaning ‘grab the heel‘ will be our base for this tour. This is a historic town that was once ruled by the powerful Herero leader, Maharero, in the 19th century. Don’t be fooled by the seemingly simplicity of Usakos. You will discover a fantastic array of mineral resources and historical mining activities, inter alia, as you wonder into the rural surroundings of Usakos.
 
Day 2
Usakos– Khan Mine – Rössing Uranium Mine – Swakopmund

After enjoying a truly Namibian breakfast we continue our journey westwards towards the historical German colonial town of Swakopmund, making our first stop at the Khan Mine, an old worked-out and almost forgotten copper mine in the arid Namib Desert. From here we travel to the well-known Rossing Uranium Mine, one of the biggest open-pit uranium mines in the world. Visiting permits are needed which will be applied for on your behalf a week prior to your arrival. From here we will travel to historical coastal town of Swakopmund to explore its treasures. After freshening up we’ll do a tour of this beautiful and historic town after which you can relax at the beech for the rest of the afternoon. Dinner will be for your own account however you will have an array of seafood and Ale Carte restaurants to choose your dinner experience from.

Day 3
Swakopmund –Granite Quarts - Salt Mine - Von Stryk Mine - Moon Landscape - Regimental Badges – Usakos
 
A highly exciting day awaits us! We will visit the Granite Quarts from where we meander northwards of Swakopmund along the coastline to the Salt Mine. This particular salt mine produces approximately 120 000 tons of salt per annum! Next we will explore the remnants of an old iron mine, the Von Stryk Mine, from where we will travel to one of Namibia’s most fascinating geological features, the Moon Landscape. You will stand and gaze over the vastness of this landscape and admire the strength of nature before we commence with our journey back to Usakos. We will stop off at various World War I sites on our way back to Usakos.
 
Day 4
Usakos - Uis Tin Mine – Spitzkoppe - Usakos

Today you will experience a most exciting day filled with a relaxing site-seeing stint to, amongst others, one of Namibia’s most prominent natural features, the Spitzkoppe. After breakfast we will travel in a northerly direction from Usakos to the once vibrant mining town, Uis, where we will visit the Uis Tin Mine, a mine that was discovered in 1911 by Dr. Paul. After lunch we’ll journey to the Spitzkoppe, a majestic landmark just west of Usakos. Here we’ll visit the Bushman’s Paradise where you’ll be able to see rock paintings done thousands of years ago….

Day 5
Usakos – Tourmaline Mine – Wolasstratinite

Prepare to get your hands dirty today as you will engage authentic mining activities together with experienced miners who have invested their energy, passion and souls in the Namibian earth! You will be surprised and dazzled by the contrast between the harshness of the arid Namibian geological environment and the beauty of the gemstones that come from this harsh environment!

Day 6
Usakos – Pelisanoro Marble – Karibib Marbles - Navacheb Gold Mine – Usakos

After breakfast we journey 30km east to the mining town of Karibib. Here we will visit Pelisanoro Marble as well as Karibib Marble. The highlight of our day will be a visit to the Navachab Gold Mine, Namibia’s only gold mine owned by Anglo Gold Namibia. Visiting permits are required however will be applied for on your behalf prior to your arrival.

Day 7
Usakos – Uis – Organ Pipes – Burnt Mountain – Twyfelfontein – Prettified Forest – Khorixas Camp

Today we’ll have an early start! After breakfast we’ll travel north to Uis where we’ll visit the Organ Pipes, a natural wonder, and then head towards the Burnt Mountain (“Brandberg”), a once active volcanic mountain that now lies dormant. Our next stop is Twyfelfontein where we’ll enjoy lunch after which we will visit the Prettified Forest and then we’re off to the Khorixas Camp where we will enjoy the evening around a campfire under the African sky. You will notice that you can get so close to the stars that you can almost touch it!

Day 8
Khorixas Camp – Tantalite Mine – Fingerklip – Outjo – Okaukuejo

Tantalite Mine:
Today we visit the Tantalite Mine as well as the “Fingerklip”. We will enjoy light refreshments at the farming community of Outjo before traveling to the Etosha National Park. You’ll spend your first night at the Okaukuejo rest camp. After camp has been set up, you’ll have the rest of the afternoon to explore the natural beauty of the African antelope while your guide prepares dinner. You can also relax at the Okaukuejo water hole watching the wild animals roaming the water hole. You might just see a majestic White Rhinoceros grazing or some of several African elephants trumpeting!
 
Day 9
Okaukuejo – Namutoni

Today we will relax and enjoy the serenity of the African bushveld! After breakfast we will meander through the Etosha pans and wild animal paths with our vehicle while traveling to the Namutoni rest camp. You might be able to see most of the Big Five and a variety of endemic bird species. This promises to be a once-in-a lifetime experience!
 
Day 10
Etosha – Otjikoto Lake – Tsumeb Copper Mine – Tsumeb Camp

After breakfast we will proceed towards Tsumeb where we will visit the fascinating Lake Otjikoto. It is believed that this lake forms part of an underground water source whose magnitude must still be determined. This is also a popular diving spot for scuba divers as they seek to establish some historical treasures, which is believed to lay hidden in the depths of the lake.
 
We will also visit the Tsumeb Copper Mine before setting up camp for the night at a local campsite.
 
Day 11
Tsumeb – Meteorite – Grootfontein – Kombat Mine – Otjiwarongo

After breakfast we will journey to Grootfontein where we will visit the Hoba Meteorite, the largest single meteorite in the world! We’ll stop at the Kombat Mine and then travel to Otjiwarongo where we’ll spend the night.
 
Day 12
Otjiwarongo – Omaruru – Karibib - Usakos

After breakfast we’ll visit an exciting crocodile farm and then we’re off to Omaruru where lunch will be served. From here we travel to Usakos where we’ll spend the night.
 
Day 13
Usakos – Ameib

Enjoy a hearty breakfast and then join us for a journey to nearby Ameib. Here we’ll visit the Bull’s Cave and Phillip’s Cave, both well known for their fascinating pre-historic rock paintings. Lunch will be served at our campsite in Usakos. Enjoy the evening around the campfire with old and new friends made!
 
Day 14
We will count our blessings of the past 13 days and then return to Windhoek!

We will explore three different locations with three different Drilling Machines, which were specially adapted for the Namibian environment. We will remain on each drilling site for two full days at a time in order to successfully explore the science of drilling and possibly share in the treasures it might discover.
 
After our drilling exploration we will travel to the mild climate of the famous German colonial coastal town of Swakopmund for a two-day experience. You will have the exciting opportunity to explore the heritage of Swakopmund by visiting, amongst various other National treasures, the museum, the Omeg House, the Woermann House, the Old Light House, the Martin Luther locomotive, the enchanting Namib dunes or just bask in the gentle sun at The Mole while the fog gently hugs the shoreline. During the evenings you can experience the German hospitality of the Brauhaus or enjoy the seafood on offer by various unique restaurants.
 
We will then travel to the Sossusvlei oasis (situated in a southerly direction from Swakopmund) for a two-day adventure. Here you will experience the enchanting contrasts and breathtaking vastness of the Namib Desert. You will have the opportunity to admire the unique flora and fauna of the Namib and perhaps also get a glimpse of the wild desert horses roaming the plains in search for shelter from its unforgiving “natural” habitat.
 
Your Namibian tour will reach its final destination when we arrive at the world-renowned and highly publicized Etosha National Park where you will have the opportunity to experience some of the Big Five while we meander through the paths of the Etosha pans. You are sure to encounter the African elephant and perhaps spot the “King of the Jungle” watching over his pride at Rietfontein. It is also whispered that a White Rhinoceros roams the plains near the Okaukuejo water hole.
 
The detailed 14-day itinerary will only be available six weeks prior to arriving in Namibia.
