Baines River Camp

In the heart of the African subcontinent lies an area of breathtaking scenery, remote wilderness, abundant wildlife and infinitely hospitable people. This is Zambia, a country emerging as one of the region’s most exciting destinations.

Proud to be part of a fascinating landscape where intrepid adventures journeyed some 200 years ago, Baines River Camp is situated on the northern banks of the Zambezi River. Named after the famous explorer and painter, John Thomas Baines, it provides spectacular views over the river towards Zimbabwe’s Mana Pools and beyond. A short distance from the world-renowned Lower Zambezi National Park, the camp lazes under an expansive canopy of magnificent African Ebony, Mangosteen and Tamarind trees.

A four day, five night, workshop with the entire camp being booked for the workshops hosted by award winning wildlife photographers, Roger and Pat de la Harpe; Roger and Pat de la Harpe are passionate wildlife photographers and writers. Their work has appeared in numerous local and international publications such as Africa Geographic, National Geographic, BBC Wildlife and Getaway. Their wildlife publications include the books “Tuli, Land of Giants”, “Big Cats of Mala Mala”, “Africa’s Big Five” and “Bush Babies”. Both of them have a superb knowledge about African wildlife and habitats. With Roger spending many years with the former Natal Parks Board and Pat having done extensive research, they have teamed up to run our exclusive photographic workshops specifically targeted to suit the beginner through to the more advanced amateur photographer.

During these photographic workshops, Roger and Pat will aim to share their knowledge with you in a relaxed and fun way, to make you more confident with your camera and the processing and enhancement of your images. One thing is for certain; you will return home with photographs of which you will be proud.
