New Hawaii ferries
A planned new ferry service could provide more options for people travelling between the Hawaiian islands. The Hawaii Superferry, a four-floor catamaran, hopes to start a daily route Honolulu-Maui/Kauai from July 2007. A second boat, due in 2009, would operate Honolulu-Hawaii. The Superferry has 900 seats and 250-car spaces; one-way fares would be around US\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\$40 per person and US\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\$55 per vehicle. A Honolulu-Maui trip would take three hours. However, there are problems. Initially the Superferry was scheduled to commence operations this year, but it still faces critics - who claim that the US\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\$235mn project is being rushed before more research is done on how the additional traffic would affect the islands. Another issue is how to prevent humpback whales from being struck by the boats.

Australia; bloody good
That might be the reaction to Tourism Australia’s promotional campaign launched February 2006 – SWTBHAY (So Where The Bloody Hell Are You). At that time, visits to the NTO’s website, Australia.com, were around 22,000 daily (over a week). After a bizarre ban in the UK (quickly lifted), this increased to 27,000 – and over one 24-hour period reached 70,000. At the same time a dedicated website was introduced, and that reached 24,000 visits daily at the time of the UK ban. International trade launches got it up again to 15,000, then it trailed below 5000 until launches in China and Korea in June, when there was another peak – to even higher than the UK-ban peak, to 30,000 daily.
